I hear my students say, “I need balance in my life”. What does that actually mean? We all want a balanced life, and we can say it; but are we taking the steps to actually do it? I can tell you I have been working on this for a very long time, it has been my mission for myself in healing and embracing my life the way I would like to live it, and helping others do the same. Pilates and Yoga are a big component of my process. Without them I would have a difficult time balancing out my mind, body and spirit to which I live by. Both entities make me feel so great and here are the reasons why…
Yoga and Pilates poses embody steadiness and ease, they teach you to find opposition inside your body and use it to gain greater control of the body.
They both also:
*train your brain
*provide deeper muscle activation, which means better function of the nervous system
*calm mind and emotions
*relieve anxiety and depression
*help treat insomnia
*uncover creative thinking
*help with chronic pain management
*reduce negative emotions
*help fight addictions and instill positive habits
*lower blood pressure and improve cardiovascular health
*make you happier
*help you to be more confident
*teach you to be yourself
Mindfulness is less about spirituality and more about concentration; the ability to quiet your mind, focus your attention on the present and dismiss any distraction that come your way, and just be you!
“A body free from nervous tension and fatigue is the ideal shelter provided by nature for housing a well balanced mind, fully capable of successfully meeting all the complex problems of modern living.” – Joseph Pilates
