Craniosacral therapy (CST) involves light holding of the skull and sacrum and barely detectable movements. The action of craniosacral therapy is gentle and slight and is believed to influence the pressure and circulatory rhythm of cerebrospinal fluid, the fluid that surrounds and cushions the brain and spinal cord. Craniosacral therapy emphasizes the energy dynamics and processes that organize body functions. CST can be hard to explain to those unfamiliar with it. Carol Sherby, owner of One Mind & Body, breaks it down in a way that’s easy to understand:

“Our bodies require the uninterrupted flow of spinal cord fluid to bathe and nourish our nerves and neurons along the spinal cord. If there is an interruption or blockage due to stress, muscle tension, injury, poor diet, or lack of communication to the cells, the body cannot function  as intended.  Like someone stepping on a section of hose, the full force of water is not allowed to flow. Take your foot off the hose and the normal flow of water will resume. So it is with spinal cord fluid.”

A clear understanding of these energetic processes takes therapeutic work to profound levels. With a gentle hands-on touch, Craniosacral Therapists listen to or feel the body’s energetic patterns of inertia or blockages. By releasing and normalizing these restrictions within the environment along the vertebras and spinal cord, communication of neurological impulses that carry information to the various processes of the body can be restored.

Our bodies have an intricate circuitry that is constantly evaluating and re-evaluating the network of interrelated tissues and fluids which make up the central nervous system. Carol, a health and wellness advisor, is passionate about Craniosacral Therapy (CST) and takes a holistic approach to healing. Integrating CST with diet and nutrition, Carol can guide you in understanding this life energy and how constrictions to nerve fibers can arise in response to physical injury, stress or emotional trauma. She will help you, through CST technique, achieve balance, promoting wellness in mind, body, and spirit.
