Pilates

Balance Yoga + Pilates offers small group pilates equipment classes.

Like yoga, pilates is a mind and body practice that emphasizes the importance of proper breathing during movement and can improve both strength and flexibility. They are wonderful compliments to each other and they even share some similar exercises! The focus in pilates is on the core of the body so that the rest of your body can move freely. Pilates has many of the same goals in mind, but one major difference between pilates and yoga is that in addition to mat work, different equipment can be incorporated like the reformer, chair, and cadillac.

With no more than four students in a class, our small group pilates equipment classes provide personalized attention to help you meet your wellness goals. While our classes are mixed levels, they presume prior pilates equipment experience and we do require prior experience to join our group classes. If you are new to the reformer or our studio, please contact us so we can determine best next steps for you. Most clients enjoy several private sessions and work with their instructor to prepare them for our group classes. If you are interested in trying pilates for the first time but not quite ready for private sessions, our Pilates Mat Fusion class is a great way to get a sneak peek into what pilates is all about!

Pilates Mat

This mat-based Pilates workout focuses on core strength, flexibility, balance, and overall body awareness. Lengthen and strengthen muscles while giving you a full-body workout. We will utilize the magic circle, theraband, small ball, and light weights to help sculpt the body as well as increase strength and range of motion. (This class is included in our yoga memberships as well as our Begin with Balance new client intro. It is an excellent peek at what Pilates is all about!)

Pilates Equipment

This dynamic small group workout combines precise movements and resistance training on specialized equipment including reformer, cadillac, and chair. Feel your core engage, muscles tone, and posture improve as you lengthen and strengthen with every session. Pilates leads to daily life improvements such as better posture, graceful and efficient movement, and relief from pain associated with physical imbalances. Classes move at an intermediate to advanced pace. Our certified instructors will provide variations and modifications, ensuring that you progress at your own pace while also challenging yourself.

We also offer Private Pilates Sessions!
