Our teacher training program is known for its high standards, deep curriculum, and is designed for aspiring yoga teachers as well as individuals who want to deepen their own study & practice.

Recognized as one of the top yoga teacher training courses in the Midwest, this program will prepare you to teach beginner and intermediate classes using your own heartfelt voice. Our program is known for its emphasis on alignment and anatomy and for developing highly-skilled yoga teachers. Employers seek graduates because of the program’s high standards and rich curriculum. 

We offer a contemporary approach based on current principles of biomechanics yet deeply rooted in the ancient wisdom of traditional yoga. Our multi-style teaching integrates techniques from alignment-based yoga (Iyengar), vinyasa flow, restorative yoga, Ayurveda, and yoga therapy.

You will study the following topics in depth:

  • Asana – learn the safe and intelligent way to perform poses

  • Alignment – with modifications, variations, and the proper use of props

  • Sequencing – how to design dynamic, effective, and intelligent sequences for all levels

  • Working with different kinds of bodies/students; how to observe bodies in practice; working with injuries and limitations; hands on adjustments.

  • Sanskrit translations

  • History and philosophy of yoga (Yoga Sutras of Patanjali);

  • The business of yoga

  • How to be successful as a teacher

Meet your lead instructor

Tricia Fiske, E-RYT 500, YAECP

Tricia has been a teacher since 1999. She is primary faculty for Prairie Yoga’s Teacher Training programs. Tricia is a leader in the west suburban yoga community and continues to train and influence yoga teachers in the area. She has been studying with ParaYoga founder Rod Stryker since 2000 and is one of the first Level 3 certified yoga teachers in the ParaYoga tradition. 

FAQs

  • We suggest that you have a minimum of 12 months of a consistent yoga practice before enrolling in our teacher training program. We want to make sure that trainees have a basic foundation in the primary yoga postures before learning to teach.

  • The program is a blend of multiple traditional styles that combine the precision of alignment-based yoga, the breath-synchronized flow of vinyasa and adaptation to the individual. You will learn and experience all 8 limbs of yoga.

  • To receive your certificate of completion, you must consistently attend the classes to comply with Yoga Alliance requirements. You are allowed to miss a maximum of two training classes. If you must miss more than two classes, you will need to pay for a private session with our TT faculty to be eligible for certification.

  • We typically have 6-12 individuals in our training. This is a high quality program.

  • The costs of books are not included in the tuition. They typically total less than $100.

  • Expect to spend between 3-4 hours a week on homework. The homework is designed to support the material covered in class and help you integrate what is presented into your own practice and teaching.

  • There is a national organization called the Yoga Alliance” which “registers” teachers. You will be able to register with the Yoga Alliance after receiving your certificate of completion. By successfully completing all of the YTT requirements program you will receive your certificate of completion at the 250-Hour Level.

  • No problem! Our 250-hour training is ideal for those who want to delve deeper into the study of yoga, and to improve their own practice. It’s also great for students who simply want to have a transformational experience and to be a part of our thriving Yoga Community.

  • $3,700 if paid in full one month before the start of the program. $3,950 thereafter. A 4.5% transaction fee is added for all credit card payments. $150 fee added for payment plans. For more details, contact us!

  • Upon request, refunds will be provided as follows:

    • Before the first training class*, your tuition will be refunded minus the $500 deposit.

    • On the day of the first training class and prior to the second training class*, your tuition will be refunded minus $1000.

    • No refunds are available on or after the second training class*.

    • If you are on a payment plan and withdraw from the course and do not qualify for a refund, you are required to continue making payments until the tuition has been paid in full and will not receive a refund.

    • Credit card transaction fees are not refundable.

    • All refunds shall be returned to student within 30 days.

    • Student must return the teacher training manual in good condition to receive refund.
