Beth Adas, Owner

Beth’s yoga journey began many years ago when she signed up for a prenatal yoga class. Prior to that she used to take mat pilates classes at the local YMCA! Over the years, yoga slowly became an integral part of her life and she quickly became hooked on pilates reformer classes! After struggling for years with chronic pain and mysterious health issues, she was diagnosed in 2019 with an autoimmune disease. She had to learn how to listen to her body, put her ego aside, and stop pushing through the pain and fatigue. Her health struggles are what inspired her to pursue her yoga teaching certification. She wanted to teach yoga to people like her who might struggle in a more active class. Beth received her 200 hour yoga teacher training certification through Yoga North International SomaYoga Institute. Her program focused on classic asana, traditional therapeutic yoga, and the neuromuscular reeducation of somatics. She believes that yoga can benefit everyone no matter what kind of physical challenges they face.

Shortly after finishing her teaching certification, Beth fell into studio ownership rather unexpectedly when she decided to purchase Balance (formerly Mindful Movements) from the previous owners.  It had been a long time dream for both herself and her family to own a small independent business in their community. Various ideas were discussed over the years but everything had one common theme – building community – creating a space that people could depend on – a place where they could gather to talk, laugh, and grow.

For many years, our studio has been providing this kind of community for Beth and for so many others. We have been a part of the Glen Ellyn community for ten years now and Beth has been the owner since May 2022. In the Fall of 2023, she rebranded the studio and renamed it Balance Yoga + Pilates. Same wonderful community - just a new name and fresh look! She is honored to continue to bring this beautiful studio into many more people's lives!
